⚠️ Public Notice: Scam Alert – Gratz Sewer & Water Billing Calls

Gratz Borough has been made aware of potential scam phone calls involving individuals claiming to represent the Borough’s Sewer Authority or Water Company.

Residents have reported receiving calls regarding alleged issues with their sewer or water bills, including requests for immediate payment or personal information.

🚫 Important Information

  • Do NOT provide personal or financial information over the phone to unsolicited callers
  • The Borough will never demand immediate payment or threaten service shutoff during a phone call
  • Suspicious calls requesting payment via gift cards, wire transfers, or unusual methods are not legitimate

✔️ How the Borough Handles Billing Issues

While Borough staff may occasionally contact residents by phone, official communication regarding billing issues will always include one or more of the following:

  • A mailed letter to the property owner or resident
  • An official door hanger notice delivered to the property
  • Clear identification of Borough staff and department

If you receive a suspicious call:

  1. Hang up immediately and call us back at the number below
  2. Do not provide any personal or payment information
  3. Contact the Borough directly to verify your account status

About Gratz Borough

Gratz is located in northeastern Dauphin County. It sits along the northern base of Short Mountain, a western extension of Bear Mountain which is part of the Ridge and Valley Province of the Appalachian Mountains.  Pennsylvania Route 25 passes through the borough, leading east 18 miles to Interstate 81 and west 14 miles to Millersburg on the Susquehanna River. Gratz is part of the Upper Dauphin Area School District.
